General Sizing
We can make any of our garments in our standard sizes, or in any customized size as needed. Our general sizes for Coats, Capes, and Waistcoats are as follows:
S – Chest 34 – 36
M – Chest 38 – 40
L – Chest 42 – 44
XL – Chest 46 – 48
XXL – Chest 50 – 52
XXXL – Chest 54 – 56
We will gladly make short, tall, or portly sizes.
Trousers are sized by waist and inseam measurements (see below.) We will gladly hem your trousers to measure, or we can send them to you unhemmed if you prefer to have that done on your own. Please let us know if you require a longer inseam than 35”.
Shirts are sized by neck and sleeve measurements. Even if you know your standard shirt size we encourage you to take the measurements as instructed below to ensure the most comfortable fit.
Shirt collars should be ordered ½” larger than the neck measurement.
Spats are sized according to your shoe size (American men’s sizing.)
Our spat sizes are as follows:
S – size 7 ½ - 9
M – size 9 ½ - 11
L – size 11 1/2 - 13
XL – size 14 and up
Shoes – Our experience is that Stacy Adams shoes run a bit long and a bit narrow. You may wish to order slightly larger to accommodate insoles.
Taking Measurements
Getting the best fit requires good measurements. Since distance may prevent us from taking your measurements in person, here are some specific instructions for taking your measurements yourself.
Chest – Measured level with the floor all the way around the torso just under the armpits at the fullest part of the pectorals.
True Waist – This measurement is taken level with the floor and cutting across the navel. This is higher than most gentlemen wear their trousers today. Please do not send us the waist size of modern trousers.
Inseam – This one can be tricky to take by yourself. The measurement is from the highest part of the crotch to just below the ankle bone with the leg straight.
Neck – The measurement is taken at the base of the neck. The tape should be snug but not tight.
Sleeve – This measurement is taken from the back of the neck, over the shoulder and all the way down the arm to below the wrist bone. Your arm should be hanging relaxed by your side. Specific garments may require additional measurements and we will be glad to assist you with additional instructions. |
